Bagels Recipe

 This is a type of bread roll in the shape of rings. A commercially produced Bagel alternative names of Bagels is Bajgiel, Beigel and Beygl. This is a type of bread. The place of origin is Poland. The region of the state is central & Eastern Europe, North America or Israel. This is created by Jewish communities of Poland. The associated national cuisine is Polish, American, Canadian or Israeli. The serving temperature is room temperature. The main ingredient is wheat dough. The variations are Montreal-style bagel, east coast style bagel and pizza bagel.

Ingredients:-

  1. White Flour, 400 grams
  2. Yeast, 20 grams
  3. Milk, 250 grams
  4. Unsalted Butter, 50 grams
  5. Sugar, 30 grams
  6. Salt, 10 grams
  7. Eggs, 50 grams


Method of Cooking:-

  1. Mix all the ingredients which are listed above in the dough mixer except the butter.
  2. Knead the dough for 5 minutes on slow speed or until the gluten has formed.
  3. Add the softened butter and knead again till a smooth dough is obtained.
  4. Keep the dough for proofing, knockback and rest again.
  5. Shape the rolls to form a disc of 1 cm thickness with a hole in the centre.
  6. Poach the bagels in water for 5-6 minutes and then place on a tray.
  7. Glaze with egg wash and top it up with toppings of your choice.
  8. Bake at 200°C for 15-20 minutes.

Remarks:-

  • The first step is to activate the yeast. Whenever you make bread, pastry or etc. You have to activate the yeast.
  • Mix the yeast and water in a bowl and stir it.
  • Sieving the flour. Sieving is very important by sieving we cannot get the impurities or lumps in our dough.
  • Proof our dough for 1 hour and cover it with a wet muslin cloth.
  • Grease the baking tray with butter and dust some flour on the top of the baking tray.
  • When you shape the bagels again proof it for 30 minutes.
  • The topping should be you can use black and white sesame seeds.
  • Preheat our oven at 220°C for 30 minutes.
