English Muffins Recipe

 The English Muffins are round, small, flat yeast-leavened bread which is commonly sliced horizontally buttered and toasted. The alternative names are Breakfast Muffins. This is a type of bread, the place of origin is Great Britain. The main ingredients are wheat flour, butter, milk, sugar, salt, egg, yeast. The wholemeal English muffins from a Tesco in Abingdon, England.

100 grams of English muffins contain 235 calories. The total fat in it 1.8 grams, Carbohydrate 46 grams, Protein 8 grams. It also contains calcium and iron.

Ingredients:-

  1. Refined Flour, 500 grams
  2. Sugar, 20 grams
  3. Yeast, 30 grams
  4. Salt, 15 grams
  5. Butter, 80 grams
  6. Milk, 250 ml
  7. White Wine Vinegar, 30 ml
  8. Water, 60 ml

Method Of Cooking:-

Preparation:-

  1. Scale the ingredients. Sieve the flour.

Cooking:-

  1. Make a soft dough with all ingredients and allow to proof. Roll out the dough into 2 cm thickness and cut with small round cutters.
  2. Once the dough is proofed cook it on both sides on a griddle.

Remarks:-

  • First, you have to activate the yeast take a bowl and add the yeast and castor sugar. Boil the milk and add in the bowl and stir it to rest it for when the yeast is activated.
  • Parchment paper on the baking tray and dust some flour on it and roll your dough on the baking tray. 
  • Cover it with a muslin cloth and proof it for 1 hour.
  •  Cut the dough with the help of cookie cutter and grease the edges with oil and then cut it.
  • Remove the extra flour from the English Muffins.
  •  Put the Muffins in an airtight container fr around 10 to 15 minutes.
  • The reason behind covering this is with the heat they are steam generated inside the box and with that steam, you will find very crumbly texture in the centre.
